In order to uplift the development of the area and overall technical advancement of the country, our World  renowned scientist Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan propounded the idea of establishing a Technical Institute that will not only  provide technical education after Matric/ F.Sc to the students, but will also serve   as nursery for  KRL. The challenge of materializing this idea was  under taken by Civil Works Organization (CWO) with major  financial assistance from Punjab Government and KRL. The construction of the institute commenced in December 1998 and is  planned to be completed in 3 phases. Construction work of phase I & phase II have almost been completed. First year classes for 1st academic session in three technologies i-e Electrical, Electronics & Computer started on 23rd Sep 2000. The institute was formally inaugurated on 23rd Nov 2000.Two  more  technologies( IT & Civil) were added with effect from academic session commencing on 17th  Sep  2001.Another two  technologies i.e Mechanical & Metallurgy were started from academic session started in  Sep 2002.In Sep 2006 IT and Computer Technologies are merged into single Technology named Computer Information Technology and a new Chemical Technology has been started . Thus the institute is organized to impart technical education in seven technologies for award of three years Diploma of Associate Engineer. The Institute is affiliated with Punjab Board of Technical Education, Lahore & conforms to the curriculum & all instructions of the Board.
